I will encourage sustainable and resilient business development across the district. That means getting together with business owners, new entrepreneurs and residents of places like the Woodland and Lakeside business districts to energize development that fills vacated spaces and meets the unique needs of these neighborhoods, so we can shop and eat and get our hair cut in our own neighborhood. I will particularly encourage family-owned small businesses from within our own community to strengthen and develop unique shops with local flavor. I will explore a “vacancy law” so there is an incentive to fill our vacant spaces. I will support creative economic development that takes advantage of our world-class destination for biking, hiking, outdoor recreation and natural beauty. I will work to keep good jobs in our city and reward businesses that collaborate with government to be strong stewards of our air and water.
